We hope you’ll find lots of inspiration for your wedding day, from venue ideas, maybe some music and first dance suggestions, to which of our options might work best for you.

Please keep checking back as we aim to update this pretty regularly!

  2. Our wedding DJs soundtrack a Disco Shed romance at Wick Farm, Bath

2013 ended on a high for Disco Wed’s super wedding DJ Jason, as he provided the entertainment at the marriage of Ben and Emily on December 22nd at Wick Farm, near Bath. A true shedonist romance, as the pair had met by chance at a Disco Shed club night in Southampton some years back after Ben spotted the listing in a magazine and remembered dancing til dawn in front of the Shed at the Big Chill in 2008. They were blown away that they could bring the Shed to their wedding and booked the Indoor Shed option immediately. Jason picks up the story. Arriving early, I sat in the downstairs bar just as the main course was going out. The couple welcomed me in and very generously offered me an amazing plateful of perfectly cooked beef and fresh vegetables, served up by the very attentive and professional staff, but...

  3. Disco Wed wedding DJs at Upwaltham Barns in West Sussex

I’d been looking forward to being Barry and Michelle’s wedding DJ at Upwaltham Barns for ages, as I’d played for them before at their friends’ wedding about 6 months before and had a brilliant time! The nature of being a wedding DJ is that you don’t expect much repeat business, most people don’t expect to be getting married again any time soon afterwards after all! But there are a few families and groups of friends who we’re delighted to play for regularly, and this gang are definitely one of them! I met Barry and Michelle again for a drink a couple of months before the wedding to talk about music and their plans for the day. They’re a super cool couple and we had loads of fun getting planning – there was much debate about how many slo-jams and garage classics should be played, an argument eventually won by...

  4. A DIY wedding disco on the first sunny day of the year, at Dove Barn in Suffolk

Dani booked me to be her wedding DJ at Dove Barn in Suffolk when I met her at the venue’s wedding show. She was particularly excited when I told her about the Disco Shed, as it turned out her friend had bought one of our t-shirts at Latitude Festival! So, it was no surprise when she decided up to choose our Indoor Disco Shed option. Dove Barn is a delightful venue – they bill it as ‘well hidden, worth finding’, and I’d agree with both points! It’s certainly off the beaten track and has an appropriately rustic feel. It is actually made up of two barns right next to each other, and is essentially a blank canvas for couples to stamp their mark on. Around the back of the barns is a lovely lawn too, making it one venue which would be able to accommodate the full Disco Shed...

  5. Our wedding DJs play Mulberry House in Essex twice in a week!

The last weekend in March and first in April saw two of our super Disco Wed wedding DJs play at lovely Mulberry House in Chipping Ongar, Essex. First up was Paddy, play for Alex & Alison, who booked our DJ only option after meeting us at one of our very first wedding shows and then coming along to one of our parties at the Book Club. It was a busy day for Disco Wed! Jason was playing at the Barbican Centre, whilst Gaz and I had already installed one of our DJ only set-ups at the Saffron Hotel in Saffron Walden, before heading to Blake Hall, just down the road from Mulberry House, where Gaz was playing so by the time I arrived at Mulberry House I was onto my third set-up of the morning! It’s a lovely, well located venue being on the outskirts of Chipping Ongar, halfway between...

  6. A wedding DJ with in the Indoor Disco Shed at the Barbican Centre in London

I first met up with Francis and Claire a couple of months before their wedding. The Barbican was the obvious meeting place as that was going to be the stunning backdrop to their big day. I never knew such a place existed, but I found myself taking a stroll with them through the huge conservatory hidden away on the 3rd floor, talking through their plans and musical wishes surrounded by tropical plants, palm trees, exotic birds and a pool which contained the largest coy carp I had ever seen. A cross between Kew Gardens and Jurassic Park, all neatly tucked away within the brutalist concrete architecture that is the Barbican! The couple had opted for the Indoor Shed and it looked fantastic in the ajoining Garden Room where the tables had been laid out in anticipation of the guests arriving. With the stunning view of St Pauls cathedral out...

  8. We love EWE 2 – 24th March, Fazeley Studios, Birmingham

We were lucky enough to be invited to exhibit at the first, absolutely brilliant Eclectic Wedding Extravaganza (EWE) back in November. There aren’t enough superlatives and I don’t want to resort to hyperbole as it’s impossible to describe how utterly fantastic it was. But until this event, I’d kinda been hoping we could go to fewer and fewer wedding shows as, whilst they are a undoubtedly a great way to meet prospective couples (and we’ve met and played for some lovely people we’ve met at events), the traditional format of most wedding fayres often just feels old-fashioned and tired, and not really in keeping with what we aspire towards here at Disco Wed. However, EWE single-handedly completely restored my faith in shows, even injecting me with enough enthusiasm me to look again at the more traditional wedding fayre, if only until the next EWE comes around! It takes place...

  9. Civil Ceremony at Fallowfields Hotel, Oxfordshire with a Disco Wed wedding DJ

Our first wedding DJ gig of 2013 was actually a civil ceremony, at lovely Fallowfields Hotel and Restaurant in Oxfordshire, where we’re delighted to be preferred supplier. It’s a lovely venue, a boutique hotel set in lovely grounds, with a farm and on some days even has falconry displays which are great! Plus, the food there really is delicious – many of the ingredients are grown in their own garden and I always look forward to eating at Fallowfields! We were recommended to Kelly by the venue and this must be the fifth or sixth time we’ve played there. Every occasion has been very different – we’ve used all of our different options, once even setting up the full Disco Shed in their field. This time though, it was to be our DJ only option. Kelly and Sally were exchanging vows at 5pm but despite this late start had...

  10. Our Wedding DJs at Fulham Palace, London

Our last wedding DJ set of 2012 took place at the historic home of the Bishops of London, Fulham Palace. Unfortunately the Bishops weren’t at home at the time, presumably out doing some last minute Christmas shopping, which at least meant we had the place to ourselves! Anna & Charlie had heard of us through a friend, Laura, who Harry played for at Belchamp Hall in July, (though they’d already booked us by then) so they knew what to expect from Disco Wed. After a few unsuccessful attempts to meet Charlie and Anna at the venue, we settled for a drink in Hammersmith a couple of weeks before the wedding, where they gave me their cheesy (Anna’s words!) playlist and we worked out our plans for the day. Whilst not as large or grand as you might expect from the name, at least via the courtyard entrance, it’s an...
