We hope you’ll find lots of inspiration for your wedding day, from venue ideas, maybe some music and first dance suggestions, to which of our options might work best for you.

Please keep checking back as we aim to update this pretty regularly!

Well apologies for not keeping up with our own blog – we’re too busy playing at all these lovely weddings! Fortunately though, it seems plenty of the excellent proper wedding blogs have picked up plenty of weddings featuring our DJs – and they do a much better job of telling you about them than we ever could! Here are just some we’ve spotted that featured Disco Wed in recent months…   Real Weddings: Rock & Roll Bride: Dan & Layla get married in Surrey with the Indoor Disco Shed Stylist Magazine: Laura & Chris’ country fete style wedding with our Indoor Disco Shed at Preston Court Rock My Wedding: Kate & Dev’s contemporary midlands nuptials Rock My Wedding: WEDFEST! 2. Looking for a wedding DJ in Essex?

Disco Wed DJ’s founder and chief wedding DJ, Paddy, actually lives in Essex, just outside (sunny!) Saffron Walden, so is ideally located to play for you if you are getting married here. Naturally, we have played at most of the county’s many lovely wedding venues, you can check the full list here but some of our favourites include: Ashdon Village Hall – this is as local as a wedding venue gets for Paddy, being in the same village he lives in! It’s a lovely, well appointed and good sized village hall, and he thoroughly enjoyed playing for Georgie and James here in 2016. Belchamp Hall – such a imposing and grand house, yet designed to accommodate quite small weddings of up to 50 people. Feel like a Lord & Lady for the weekend of your wedding! Blake Hall – This is another favourite wedding venue, understatedly beautiful, no noise limiter, and run...

  3. Change the record (sleeves!) Mr DJ!

At home I’m lucky enough to be able to listen to my vinyl collection on my Dad’s beautiful old Thorens record deck, which he gave me a decade or so ago, and a pretty rare Bang & Olufsen Beomaster 800 stereo receiver from the early 70s, which I found when I worked at a household recycling centre (the dump!) for 3 days after getting home from 18 months travelling in 2002, and remarkably still seemed to work perfectly and sound amazing. It didn’t cost a penny for amazing, beautiful, vintage hi-fi sound, and super cool looks too, and my wife and I love playing music and introducing records at home to our young children. This is a pic from last Christmas, hence the advent tree! Anyway, above the hi-fi we have a small shelf on which to display some of the beautiful artwork from the record sleeves. I mean to...

  4. We finally launch our wedding DJ services on Instagram!

Yes indeed – the news you’ve been waiting for! We have finally launched our wedding DJ services on Instagram! Stop the clocks, ring your Mum and tweet your pals to mark this moment! Ok, so we’re not great at the whole social media thing, let’s put that down to being busy with DJing at weddings, festivals and our club nights too, and over the last four years having children to look after too! It’s a surprisingly hard life being a wedding DJ! But we’ve always enjoyed browsing the wedding blogs and fully appreciate what a great resource they are for couples seeking inspiration for their big day, this goes for Instagram too. The quality of most of the wedding photographers we work with is rarely anything other than properly brilliant these days too, and their stunning images of fantastic looking weddings light up the internet. However, weirdly, the quality...

  5. Vogue magazine’s dream wedding DJs

Today might be apparently the most depressing day of the year, but our spirits were lifted this morning by the postman delivering the February issue of British Vogue. Inside, they feature their ‘Dream Wedding’, which has Disco Wed as their wedding DJs! Result!! “From the people behind the brilliant “Disco Shed” comes this spin-off wedding DJ service. Perfect for cool couples seeking a credible alternative to cheesy wedding DJ cliches, they rock receptions as expertly as they do huge festivals and club nights.”

  7. Our wedding DJs soundtrack a Disco Shed romance at Wick Farm, Bath

2013 ended on a high for Disco Wed’s super wedding DJ Jason, as he provided the entertainment at the marriage of Ben and Emily on December 22nd at Wick Farm, near Bath. A true shedonist romance, as the pair had met by chance at a Disco Shed club night in Southampton some years back after Ben spotted the listing in a magazine and remembered dancing til dawn in front of the Shed at the Big Chill in 2008. They were blown away that they could bring the Shed to their wedding and booked the Indoor Shed option immediately. Jason picks up the story. Arriving early, I sat in the downstairs bar just as the main course was going out. The couple welcomed me in and very generously offered me an amazing plateful of perfectly cooked beef and fresh vegetables, served up by the very attentive and professional staff, but...

  8. Disco Wed wedding DJs at Upwaltham Barns in West Sussex

I’d been looking forward to being Barry and Michelle’s wedding DJ at Upwaltham Barns for ages, as I’d played for them before at their friends’ wedding about 6 months before and had a brilliant time! The nature of being a wedding DJ is that you don’t expect much repeat business, most people don’t expect to be getting married again any time soon afterwards after all! But there are a few families and groups of friends who we’re delighted to play for regularly, and this gang are definitely one of them! I met Barry and Michelle again for a drink a couple of months before the wedding to talk about music and their plans for the day. They’re a super cool couple and we had loads of fun getting planning – there was much debate about how many slo-jams and garage classics should be played, an argument eventually won by...

  9. A DIY wedding disco on the first sunny day of the year, at Dove Barn in Suffolk

Dani booked me to be her wedding DJ at Dove Barn in Suffolk when I met her at the venue’s wedding show. She was particularly excited when I told her about the Disco Shed, as it turned out her friend had bought one of our t-shirts at Latitude Festival! So, it was no surprise when she decided up to choose our Indoor Disco Shed option. Dove Barn is a delightful venue – they bill it as ‘well hidden, worth finding’, and I’d agree with both points! It’s certainly off the beaten track and has an appropriately rustic feel. It is actually made up of two barns right next to each other, and is essentially a blank canvas for couples to stamp their mark on. Around the back of the barns is a lovely lawn too, making it one venue which would be able to accommodate the full Disco Shed...

  10. Our wedding DJs play Mulberry House in Essex twice in a week!

The last weekend in March and first in April saw two of our super Disco Wed wedding DJs play at lovely Mulberry House in Chipping Ongar, Essex. First up was Paddy, play for Alex & Alison, who booked our DJ only option after meeting us at one of our very first wedding shows and then coming along to one of our parties at the Book Club. It was a busy day for Disco Wed! Jason was playing at the Barbican Centre, whilst Gaz and I had already installed one of our DJ only set-ups at the Saffron Hotel in Saffron Walden, before heading to Blake Hall, just down the road from Mulberry House, where Gaz was playing so by the time I arrived at Mulberry House I was onto my third set-up of the morning! It’s a lovely, well located venue being on the outskirts of Chipping Ongar, halfway between...
